Dubbo excels at Orange Croquet Club's Spring Carnival

This month four of our members took part in their first ever official carnival and competed valiantly at the Orange City Croquet Club's Golf Croquet Spring Carnival. The carnival is held each year in September and is an extremely popular event. This year it was held over four days with people traveling from eleven different parts of the State, playing both doubles and singles golf croquet games.
Dubbo players Peter and Del Heywood, Beth Stanley and Mavis Grant, seen here above, had an early start Thursday morning, and, despite a cold start the weather was kind to all.
True to form, the Orange Croquet Club looked after us well. On the Friday night the Carnival Dinner was held at Duntry League Golf Club and after dinner teams were formed to test their wits in a few games of trivia. Our thanks to Orange.

Peter Heywood (and drawn partner from Young) took out first place in their doubles division. Del Heywood (and her drawn partner from Newcastle National Park) were runners up in the doubles in their division.
Del took out first place by winning the singles games in her division.
Beth (and drawn partner from Nowra) were runners up in their division in the doubles, while Beth won her singles division taking out first place.

Last year Lilla Logan, Tom Barclay and  Dot and Leon O'Mally competed in this carnival with Lilla (with her partner) also winning. Of course, Graham Innocent plays all over state and has many wins to his credit. However, this was the first time the above Dubbo members participated in an official carnival and did well despite very strong competition.

Congratulations from all members of Dubbo City Croquet Club.
